New Flagler County Chess Club Opens for Players of All Ages
Chess players in Flagler County now have a home base. The new Flagler Chess Club has officially opened, offering residents a place to play, learn, and connect over the game of kings and queens.
A new community chess club is opening its doors in Flagler County, giving players of all ages a place to gather and enjoy the timeless game of strategy. The Flagler County Chess Club held its second official meeting on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Flagler Beach Library, located at 315 7th St S, Flagler Beach, FL 32136.
The club will continue to meet every third Saturday of the month at the library. Sessions are open to beginners, casual players, and experienced competitors alike, with opportunities for learning, friendly matches, and more serious tournament-style play.
“We want to make chess accessible and fun for everyone,” said Matt F. “It’s a chance for people to meet, learn, and challenge themselves in a positive and supportive environment.”
While the library meetings provide a consistent monthly gathering, the club is also seeking an additional location to host more frequent sessions. The goal is to expand opportunities for players who want to practice regularly or for families looking for a local activity during the week.
With chess enjoying renewed popularity across the country, organizers believe Flagler County is ready for its own hub of activity. Plans include casual lessons, special events, and possible partnerships with schools and community groups to bring chess to more residents.
Anyone interested in joining can find more details at FlaglerChess.com. Attendees are welcome to bring their own boards, but equipment will also be provided at the meetings.
